Universal switch II - Operation
Universal switch II - Operation
Procedure Universal switch II flashes red sporadically / no response when button is pressed
!!! The information on the error pattern is for internal use. There is no communication to end customers !!!
We have a large number of Universal switch IIs in the field with a short radio range. The undesired behavior is due to a missing component on the circuit board of the Universal switch II.
The aim is to replace all affected devices with new Universal switch IIs. Defective Universal switch II will also be replaced after the warranty has expired! A valid purchase invoice is required.
Observations during operation:
- Universal switch II flashes red repeatedly and for a long time
- Device does not respond to a button press in this state (LED without visual feedback)
- Flashing behavior unchanged even when the Universal switch II is placed close to the controller (2 to 3 meters)
This WDB entry is intended to support you in the further processing of inquiries about this error pattern.
A digital image of the type plate on the frame of the Universal switch is required before the customer's request can be checked.Note:The Zigbee code is insufficient for processing. The invoice for the purchase of the Universal switch II is also requested.
As soon as a digital image of the nameplate is available, further processing is carried out by checking the production date:
1st production date <437
The three-digit production date is listed after the device number and begins with A70 followed by e.g.337,339etc. (see pictures in this entry)
If the production date is less than 437, the product is faulty. Tag the ticket:#usII_low_signal_strength_20240201
Note the Zigbee code and check whether you have a valid invoice/purchase receipt.
Affected customers are then offered a replacement delivery in accordance with the process.
2. production date >=437
In this case, it is not a defective Universal switch II. The internal antenna should amplify the Zigbee signal sufficiently.
Check customer concerns as usual using the technical checklist including system log.
If the issue cannot be resolved at either 1st or 2nd level, it is forwarded to 3rd level.
