Room Thermostat - Installation
Room Thermostat - Installation
Where in the room should I install the Room thermostat (mounting, installation)?
It is best to install the Room thermostat in a place in the room where you are usually located, i.e. near the sofa in the living room at a height of approx. 1.50m. If possible, do not install the device on an outside wall, near a window, near a heat source or in a place exposed to direct or indirect sunlight.
How do I install the Room thermostat (installation, mounting)?
The Room thermostat can be installed in just a few simple steps. All you need is the Bosch Smart Home app and the accessories included in the packaging. After starting the Bosch Smart Home app, you will be guided through the individual installation steps.
The device does not start after inserting the battery. The display remains dark. What can I do (Room thermostat, Radiator thermostat, Empty battery)?
It can happen with both the Room thermostat and the Radiator thermostat that the display remains dark when the batteries are changed. It appears as if the batteries are flat.
In this case, please remove the batteries and press the buttons on the devices several times. After reinserting the batteries, the devices should now be accessible again without any problems.
The Room thermostat does not fit into the flush-mounted box. Are there certain specifications or standards that I have to comply with (mounting, requirements, installation, Room thermostat underfloor heating)?
In Germany, flush-mounted boxes normally have a depth of 50 mm. This is sufficient for our thermostats.
In older households, the flush-mounted boxes are sometimes only 40 mm deep. For this application, there are so-called flat boxes, which have a depth of only 35 mm.
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.

How long is the battery life of the Room thermostat (empty battery)?
The typical service life of the batteries is at least 1 year with typical use. If the battery capacity falls below a critical level, the Bosch Smart Home app informs you in good time.
The battery symbol also lights up on the device display and starts to flash.
How many Radiator thermostats or Smart plugs can I connect to one Room thermostat (requirements, installation)?
You can connect up to 6 devices directly to a Room thermostat. If you have assigned several devices to a Room thermostat, you will find the corresponding overview on the device configuration page of the Room thermostat.
The surplus Radiator thermostats are controlled as if there were no Room thermostat in the corresponding room. Each Radiator thermostat regulates according to its own temperature measurement. The setpoint temperature is then sent to all devices by the Smart Home controller.
How does resetting the Room thermostat (reset) work?
To restore the factory settings, please proceed as follows:
1. please remove at least one battery first. Please wait 20 seconds or briefly press the control dial of your device again after removing the battery. This will ensure that the factory settings can be restored successfully.
2. then reinsert the battery and hold down the adjusting wheel while inserting it.
3. wait until "rES" appears on the display.
4. briefly release the adjusting wheel, then immediately press the adjusting wheel again and keep it pressed until the LED lights up green.
5. release the adjusting wheel and the appliance will restart. The process is complete when the display shows the measured temperature and humidity again.
Why can't I use the temperature measured by the Twinguard for the room temperature (functions, information, measured value)?
The temperature sensors of the Smart Home Motion detector, the Twist or the Twinguard are not suitable for room temperature control, as they only take temperature measurements at irregular intervals. Only our Room and Radiator thermostats are suitable for room temperature control.
Where can the humidity measured by the Room thermostat be viewed (installation, settings)?
The humidity is shown on the display of the device and in the app under the room overview.

What is the difference between the Room thermostat and a Room thermostat for underfloor heating (functions, requirements)?

What is the Bosch Smart Home Room thermostat (functions, information)?
The Smart Home Room thermostat enables even better heat regulation throughout the room and is therefore the perfect addition to your Radiator thermostats. Control up to six radiators per room simultaneously and centrally with your Room thermostat. Instead of directly on the radiator, the smart room thermostat measures the temperature where you place it. This means that your individual desired temperature is reached exactly where it is most important to you. Especially in large rooms or with concealed radiators, temperature control is much more efficient with the smart Room thermostat. You save energy and gain comfort.
The Room thermostat does not measure the temperature locally on the radiator, but centrally where you install it in the room. The desired temperature and the temperature measured at the installation location are transmitted to the individual Radiator thermostats. These only heat as much as necessary to keep your desired temperature constant in the room. This allows you to enjoy greater heating comfort throughout the room.
