The smart underfloor heating thermostats control the actuator on the heating circuit manifold. In some systems, several heating loops are controlled via one actuator, which do not necessarily have to run in the same room (e.g. open first floor without partition walls). It would also theoretically be possible to run a heating loop across several rooms (e.g. if an open kitchen is subsequently separated from the living room by a wall). Only in these cases would control across several rooms be possible.

The Room thermostat cannot be controlled directly via the Twist.
However, you can use the Twist to set the setpoint for room temperature control in all rooms. This value is then transferred to all heating-relevant devices and thus also to the Room thermostat. The prerequisite for this is that room control has been set up as a function on the Twist.
Briefly pressing the buttons up or down raises or lowers the temperature by 0.5°C. A long press raises or lowers the temperature by 2°C.

Yes, the Room thermostats for underfloor heating have an automatic valve protection function or limescale protection.
If a valve has not been moved for 14 days, it is automatically opened for five minutes.
The interval is longer than with the Radiator thermostat, as the lower temperatures in the floor heating circuit (approx. 30 instead of 60°C for radiators) result in significantly less limescale.

We recommend operation with the Smart Home controller in order to be able to use all functions optimally. Without a Smart Home controller, the Room thermostats control the control wheel valves via "Normally Open" (nO - normally open). Likewise, after a reset to the factory settings, the default setting is "nO".
Furthermore, the Room thermostat runs through several phases in the first 30 minutes:
1. in the first 10 minutes after switching on the mains voltage, the Room thermostat is in start mode and the Relay is permanently activated.
2 In the following 20 minutes, the Relay is operated via a 2-point control, in which the Relay is switched on when the temperature falls below the setpoint temperature and switched off accordingly when the temperature exceeds it.
3. after 30 minutes, the control unit switches to PWM mode.
If you have assigned Radiator thermostats to the same room in the system, the measured temperature in the system is determined from the average value of all measured temperatures of the Radiator thermostats and Room thermostats in a room. Nevertheless, local conditions prevail at the individual radiator, to which each Radiator thermostat reacts individually. We therefore recommend achieving an appropriate room temperature:
1. please check the individual Radiator thermostats. Are they as freely accessible as possible? Can heat build-up be prevented as far as possible?
2. add a Room thermostat to your system if possible. This makes the measurement of the actual room temperature much more accurate and therefore also the control of the individual Radiator thermostats
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.
First check all heat sources in the room and the position of the Room thermostat with regard to additional heat radiation.
If you have assigned Radiator thermostats to the same room in the Bosch Smart Home system, the measured temperature in the system is determined from the average value of all measured temperatures of the Radiator thermostats and Room thermostats in a room.
In this case, we recommend that you create different rooms so that you can make full use of the boost mode and ventilation detection functions for your radiator heaters.
During the first few days, the system gets to know the heating and cooling behavior of your room. During this time, there may be major deviations between the set and measured temperature.

Depending on use and season, select the right mode for each room in your home under "Heating pause & cooling":
- Heating
- Heating break
- Cooling
Practical: Even without opening the service, you can see which mode is currently active from the corresponding icon in the favorites.
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.
The prerequisite for using the cooling function on the Room thermostat underfloor heating is underfloor heating in conjunction with a heat pump.
The heat pump must support a cooling function.

The device works with so-called pulse width modulation (PWM) on the basis of 15-minute intervals. This means that the internal Relay is triggered every 15 minutes. This is the state of the art for such technical solutions.
Damage to the heating system or the control valves is not to be expected, as the systems must be equipped with self-protection by the manufacturer.

The smart thermostats control the actuator on the existing heating circuit manifold. Control across room boundaries would only be possible in the constellations described due to the structural requirements.

You can activate or deactivate summer mode room by room under Menu >> Services >> Summer break. Once activated, summer mode is indicated by an "OFF" symbol on the display of the corresponding thermostats and a "Summer mode" message in the Smart Home app. The thermostats are switched off in summer. Scenarios and automations then ignore the temperature settings for the corresponding room.

Yes, it is possible to control the Room thermostat using Amazon Alexa. To change the temperature via Alexa, say for example: "Alexa, set living room to 23°C" or "Alexa, raise/lower living room by 2 degrees."
The Bosch Smart Home controller including the Bosch Smart Home app (iOS, Android) is required for the partner connection.

Our Bosch Smart Home Room thermostats have protection class IP 20. The IP code "20" is made up of two digits: The first digit "2" stands for "protected against solid foreign bodies with a diameter of less than 12.5 mm" as well as "protected against access with a finger". The second digit "0" indicates that the electrical device isis not protected against water and moisture.
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.
Yes, the room control works with all water-based underfloor heating systems.
During the first few days of operation, the device automatically learns the time intervals for heating and cooling the rooms and adjusts the control accordingly.
A heating appliance type can also be selected in the device settings for the thermostat in order to optimize the initial parameters of the control and thus the learning time (e.g. low energy for heat pump systems).
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.
No, the Boost function in the Smart Home app is intended for rapid heating using our smart Radiator thermostats and is not offered for the Room thermostat in combination with underfloor heating.
Protection classes define measures that protect against voltages that are dangerous to touch. While protection is provided by extra-low voltage at 24V, double or reinforced insulation is required at 230V.

If your underfloor heating does not work in a room, check the connections on the Room thermostat underfloor heating for correct wiring. The Room thermostat is only suitable for controlling actuators at a maximum current of 1 ampere (corresponds to 230 watts switching capacity for the 230 volt product variant or 24 watts for 24 volts). The control was designed for water-bearing underfloor heating systems. Operation with other types (e.g. electric) is not recommended.
Instructions for installing the Bosch Smart Home Room thermostat can be found in the operating instructions. Installation may only be carried out by a qualified electrician.
The operating instructions for the Room thermostat 24V can be foundhere.
The operating instructions for the Room thermostat 230V can be foundhere.
Our Room thermostats for underfloor heating can switch 1 ampere of current.
This corresponds to an output of 230 watts for the 230 volt version and 24 watts for the 24 volt version.
Please note that the described product and its functions are currently only available in Germany and Austria.
Please note that underfloor heating requires a little more time to heat up a room due to its energy-efficient way of heating.
Plan this heating time when you store different heating times via the Bosch Smart Home app.
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.
Each device measures the sensor values at its own location. Due to measurement tolerances and local conditions as well as different positions in the room (ceiling, wall, windows, doors), the measured values may vary.
Yes, an offset setting - as with the Bosch Smart Home Radiator thermostat - is also possible with our Room thermostats.
To do this, open the device settings of your Bosch Smart Home app and select the corresponding device under "Room thermostats".
You now have the option of adjusting the offset setting according to your requirements, for example to compensate for differences between the measured values on the thermostat and the measurement in the center of the room.
Please note that some of the products described and their functions may only be available in Germany and Austria.
There are many variants of underfloor heating with cable and radio on the market. For wired systems, almost all manufacturers rely on a 230 V or 24 V system.
The advantage of 24 volt systems is that they work with a low voltage (<50 volts) that is not life-threatening for adults. In addition, the 24V device uses a semiconductor element (triac) instead of a Relay, which operates silently.
If your underfloor heating does not switch off, check and change the setting for the valve type (de-energized open/de-energized closed) in the Smart Home app according to your underfloor heating. The wiring on the Room thermostat and actuator should also be checked. Carry out a visual inspection of the valve for possible defects. Note: The Room thermostat uses PWM control instead of conventional 2-point control.
The Bosch Smart Home Underfloor-heating room thermostat 230V automatically learns the time intervals for heating and cooling the rooms during the first few days of operation and adjusts the control accordingly.
By selecting a device type, you define the initial parameters of the heating control.
With the "Underfloor heating" setting, the control unit will initially decide every 15 minutes how long the underfloor heating actuator will receive power for the following 15 minutes. The control unit then automatically adjusts the times to the actual behavior of the room heating.
For all other heater types, please note that only the start parameters for the self-learning control algorithm are changed. If the device type "Underfloor heating low energy" is set, the algorithm assumes very slow heating and will initially heat for the full 15 minutes. This value is then automatically adjusted in the following days.
When selecting the convector and electric radiator device types, our Underfloor-heating room thermostat 230V will switch on first and basically see what happens subsequently. Here too, the switching times are then gradually adapted.
