My lamp, which is plugged into the Smart plug, cannot be switched on (motion light, presence simulation, requirements, settings)?
Please check under "Management" >> "Devices">> "Smart plugs" whether the "Luminaire connected" checkbox is ticked for the corresponding device.
This setting means that the Smart plug is treated as a luminaire and integrated into the "Motion light" and "Presence simulation" services. In addition, you can control the Smart plug under your "Favorites" via the "Room light" tile together with other lights in the room.
Why is only one battery included in the scope of delivery (Bosch Smart Home Motion detector, empty battery)?
In normal operation, one battery provides a battery life of approx. 5 years. To extend this, you can optionally insert another battery.
Which adhesive tape is suitable for mounting the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector (requirements, installation)?
Only the adhesive tape supplied is suitable for mounting and installing the Motion detector. In principle, other adhesive tapes are also possible. However, we cannot provide any guarantee/warranty for these.
I'm afraid of breaking the Motion detector if I pierce the holes. Can I break something (requirements, installation)?
Even if it doesn't seem like it at first glance, the material at the breakthrough points is designed to be pierced with little effort. Don't worry, you can't break anything here.
Why do I need the built-in spirit level (Motion detector, requirements, installation)?
Thanks to the built-in spirit level, you can ensure that the Motion detector is always correctly aligned and hangs straight on the wall, especially when screw mounting.

Motion Detector - Operations
How does the motion detection (Motion detector, infrared) work?
The Bosch Smart Home Motion detector uses passive infrared technology. All bodies (people, animals, vehicles, trees, etc.) emit infrared heat rays. The Motion detector measures and compares the infrared radiation in its detection area, but does not emit any rays itself and is therefore passive.
What is the anti-theft protection (Motion detector, functions, installation)?
The anti-theft protection is a part of the Motion detector that remains on the wall/corner if the device is forcibly removed from it and sends a signal to the controller and thus also to the connected smartphones. This only works reliably with screw mounting.
How often do I have to test the Motion detector (installation, empty battery)?
You only need to test the Motion detector once during installation. As soon as there is a fault (e.g. batteries about to run out), you will receive a notification on your smartphone.
How long does it take after a detected movement until a new movement can be detected (detection, Motion detector, requirements)?
Once a movement has been detected, no further movement is detected for 180 seconds.
What happens after the Motion detector has detected a movement (requirements, functions, detection)?
The Motion detector sends a signal to your Smart Home controller. The following actions can be triggered here via the "Alarm system" service, for example:
- You will receive a notification on your cell phone.
- The Smoke alarm siren sounds.
- Connected Philips Hue lamps flash red.
This can have a deterrent effect.
The Motion detector can also be used as a trigger for scenarios and automations. It can also be integrated into the "Motion light" service and start any actions there.
How large is the area to be monitored (Motion detector, functions, installation, mounting, requirements)?
Starting from the motion detector 90° to the sides and 12 m in depth.
Depending on whether the under-curve protection is active, movements below the Motion detector are also checked at the specified angle.
What is the motion light (Motion detector, functions)?
The Motion detector now switches on all Philips Hue lamps in the same room when motion is detected.
The light sensitivity of the Motion detector can be individually adjusted for this purpose. Once the appropriate level of darkness has been reached, the light sensor triggers the function in combination with a detected movement of the motion sensor.
The light can be switched off at time intervals. You have the option of setting different time intervals here. You can also adjust the brightness (1 to 100%) of the Philips Hue lamps yourself.
You must have either a Philips Hue lamp or the "Flush-mounted Light control" component for the corresponding lamp to be switched.
It should also be noted that the light is switched off depending on the time. After at least 5 minutes (selectable up to approx. 60 minutes) or optionally via the wall switch (flush-mounted control / Universal switch / Universal switch Flex).
How does motion detection work (Motion detector, functions)?
The Bosch Smart Home Motion detector uses passive infrared technology. All bodies (people, animals, vehicles, trees, etc.) emit infrared heat rays. The Motion detector measures and compares the infrared radiation in its detection area, but does not emit any rays itself and is therefore passive.
The connection is poor, the Motion detector can no longer be reached. What can I do (range, installation, mounting)?
If the Motion detector is displayed as not accessible in the app, it is possible that the distance between the Smart Home controller and the component is too great or that other products are interfering with the connection. Also make sure that the component is installed at least 1 meter away from the Smart Home controller, i.e. not too close to the Smart Home controller.
What is the pet detection and under-crawl protection (Motion detector, functions)?
You can choose between pet detection and crawl-under protection on your Smart Home Motion detector. With the preset pet detection, pets weighing up to 25 kg are not taken into account and creep protection is deactivated. Activating creep protection ensures that movements directly under your Motion detector do not go undetected.
You can set the corresponding setting under the following menu path: Management >> Devices >> Motion detector >> Your corresponding Motion detector >> Additional functions >> Set sensitivity.
My Motion detector is frequently triggered even though there is no movement. What can I do (alarm system, motion light, detection)?
Make sure that there are no problematic objects within range of your Motion detector (e.g. fan or radiator). If you have pets, also activate the pet detection function. You can also find a detailed overview in theInstallation instructions.
Please also refer to our installation video in this article. If there are any problems displaying the video, you can also find our installation and reset videos on our Bosch Smart Home YouTube channel at the following linkLink.
The Motion detector does not detect movement. What can I do (function check, test, no function, empty battery)?
To check the function of your Motion detector, please open your Smart Home app. In the device management, please select the corresponding Motion detector and click on "Test Motion detector".
If the test is negative, please follow the instructions in the app and in the operating / installation instructions under the following linkLink.
Motion Detector - General Information
Motion Detector - General Information
What is the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector and what can it do (functions, information)?
The intelligent Motion detector from Bosch Smart Home reliably and precisely detects movement. It distinguishes between conspicuous and inconspicuous events. This means it only triggers an alarm when necessary.
The Bosch Smart Home Motion detector is a smart home component that uses a passive infrared sensor (PIR) to detect and report movement indoors.
There's something going on in your home - of course there is, after all, you lead an active life with your loved ones! When you leave the house, there's nothing going on - except perhaps your cat, who is comfortably roaming the hallway. As part of your smart home system, the intelligent Motion detector distinguishes a break-in from your kitty's domestic stroll. It reacts to unwanted movements in two ways: it immediately sends you a notification via the system app. At the same time, it triggers the Smoke alarm siren.
In this way, they are informed when they are on the move and uninvited guests are deterred on site. So you can always be sure that your home - and your cat - are well protected.
Further information can be found on the corresponding product page of our webshop. Please follow thisLink.
What exactly does the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector come with?
The exact system requirements and the exact scope of delivery of the Bosch Smart Home Motion detector can be found on the corresponding product page of our webshop. Please follow thisLink.
How can the Motion detector distinguish between people and small animals (functions, information)?
Every living creature emits heat radiation in the infrared range. For small animals, it is correspondingly less than for humans. Essentially, the threshold value for the heat sensor is raised when detecting small animals.
To set the appropriate sensitivity, please go to the additional functions of your Motion detector and follow the instructions under "Sensitivity setting".
Where can I find the DIN standards / declarations of conformity for the Smart Home Smoke alarm (information)?
All standards can be found in the declarations of conformity on our homepage atLink.
