New functions

Data backup and data recovery

• You now have flexible options for backing up the Smart Home system data, for example, to a mobile device, and for restoring it to another Smart Home controller in the event of a fault in your Bosch Smart Home controller. This means that the connections to the smart devices, as well as all automations, scenarios and some other functions, are retained. The new feature can be found in the app under “More” > “System”. This section also describes in detail what is backed up and what is not and what needs to be taken into account.

Widget for automations (Android)

• New widgets for automations are available. This allows them to be started even faster using a smartphone or tablet. Note: Any conditions specified are ignored when an automation is triggered manually using a widget.

Temperature sensor for room thermostats in automations

• The recently released external temperature sensor for room thermostat II can now also be used in automations.

IMPROVEMENTS

Compatibility between app and Smart Home controller

• In some cases, Smart Home controllers may not be able to install an update. If the corresponding app update was installed previously, the app could no longer access the Smart Home controller. New: the app allows temporary access to an incompatible Smart Home controller, leaving enough time to update it with a reboot or support. The range of functions may be limited during this time.

New firmware

• Radiator thermostat II
  The heating control algorithm has been revised at some points to address specific states in the wide range of heating systems more effectively. The set desired temperature is now reached and maintained more quickly.
• Smart lamps
  New firmware versions are available for several Ledvance lamps, including general and security enhancements.
• General
  Latest security updates for the Smart Home controller / Smart Home controller II and Bosch Smart Home apps.

Text search for automations (Android)

• Text search now searches for all search terms, separated by spaces, in the names of the automations. Until now, only the exact text entered has been searched.

BUG FIXES

• Android app
  • When adding a room thermostat II, the “Unknown error” message was displayed in certain cases, although there was no error. This issue has been resolved.
  • The relay’s Favourites tile was dimmed (not accessible) in some configurations, even though the device was connected and accessible. This issue has been resolved.
  • If a second radiator thermostat was added to a room that already had a relay with “Boiler” purpose and radiator thermostat installed, an incorrect page was displayed during installation and could not be cancelled. This issue has been resolved.
  • The text for the configuration of a universal switch was not completely displayed on small mobile devices. This issue has now been resolved.
  • The rooms connected to a relay with “Boiler” purpose were not displayed in alphabetical order on the relay’s product page. This issue has been resolved.

• iOS app
  • [+M] product line devices: Granting Bluetooth permission no longer interrupts the pairing process.
  • In rare cases, “Unknown room” was displayed on the Twinguard product page.
  • In rare cases, a profile could not be changed on the Twinguard. This issue has been resolved.
  • With the relay, a default icon was displayed in Favourites instead of the selected icon.

• Door/window contact / door/window contact II combined with room thermostat 230 V / room thermostat II 230 V
  
  • When opening and closing a window/door in the “Cooling” status, the window/door status did not display correctly in some cases. This issue has been resolved.

• “Temperature drop” service
  
  • In some cases, even if the heating break was switched on, a message was sent that the heating break was switched on when changing the radiator thermostat’s batteries. This issue has been resolved.

• Twist
  
  • When adding a relay to the Twist, the icon did not display correctly in some cases. This issue has been resolved.

• Radiator thermostat
  
  • When installing a room thermostat II, the message for the climate control was displayed incorrectly when creating a new room, even though the room was empty. This issue has been resolved.
  • In rare cases, two messages were sent when the battery was low. This issue has been resolved.

• Relay
  
  • A relay with the purpose “boiler” can no longer be switched on and off by automation or Twist. This was incorrectly possible for a short time.

• Common causes of crashes have been fixed (including iOS access to partner page)

System requirements

• As of this release, iOS 15.5 is required for the Bosch Smart Home app. The current app can still be used on these devices. However, you will no longer receive any updates.
